Masjid Noor

Masjid Noor is a thriving Mosque and Community Centre situated in the heart of the vibrant, multicultural community of Pollokshields, Glasgow.

Having served the community for over 40 years, it is now going through a major redevelopment to make way for a new purpose built Masjid and Community Centre.

The Mosque today

Our Mosque is a sacred place for congregational prayers, but it is also a centre for education and social welfare.

A two acre piece of land with a small two-storey building was purchased in 1979, and today Masjid Noor is a thriving Mosque at the heart of the community. Hundreds of people visit the Mosque every day.

But with a local population of about 5,000 and more families coming to live here permanently, a need has arisen for a properly constructed larger Mosque. Initial work has already been completed, foundations have been laid, and planning permission has been granted.

Uthman ibn Affan reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, then Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise.”

The Redevelopment Project

The total project cost is around £3.6 million.

Phase one has been completed and we have raised £600,000 for phase two. But we urgently need another £1.3million to complete this phase.

Phase three will cost £900,000 and will include refurbishment of the existing building and connection to the new-build car park and external landscaping.
